When was the last time the box was rebooted prior to the SP4?

Thanks for the responses, cannot boot recovery console as I cannot access
anything on the box after I log in. I can boot into dos mode however..

Have just ran chkdsk /f and have found a problem with file '9057' in $130
whatever this is, has taken 15 mins to fix and is still running...

Normally I would just wipe the box and re-install but I cannot access the
backup from the clients tape drive Onstream AD31. Even though I did a full
backup with verify (i even checked the log) prior to SP4. I pulled the tape
drive out and installed in a w2k workstation but it complains the tape is bad.
grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

Would a virus cause this sort of problem ? The box has been running as a
primitive email server (Vpop) for about a year with no virus checker installed ?

Did you install the Symantec Client before or after the Service pack? Was
there an antivirus program installed before the symantec? If so was it disabled
when you installed the service pack? because that can cause some issues for
sure.

Also, if you go to the RUN command by clicking start, then "run", can you
get to the event viewer to see whats filling it up? If you can't click start
then try the windows flag key and R (flag key between cntrl and alt). Let me
know.

        Need help guys

Service packed a server 2000 box to SP4, no problem. Installed Symantec

'system log is full'.

Tried safe mode boots but have same problem.

Please save my skin guys, any help is MUCH appreciated before I get
