Hi Dave,
If you are interested in setting up a query that points to a public
folder, then below are the steps in brief that u need to follow: (the
steps mentioned is applicable to any type of Public folder)

1> From ESM, open up the properties of that contacts Public folder.
2> Go to Exchange Advanced tab.
3> Click on Custom Attributes.
4> Select extensionAttribute5 (you can choose which ever extension
attribute u like, but then change the filter in Step10 accordingly),
and click on Edit.
5> Type "contact"
6> Click on OK, OK and OK....till u exist out of the properties of the
public folder.
7> Now create a new Query Based DL.
8> On the filter select Customise Filter & click Customize.
9> Select the "Advanced" tab.
10> Click on Field -> Public Folder -> Custom Attribute 5.
11> Let the condition be "Starts with"
12> and under value type "contact"
13> Click "Find now"...... before hitting Find Now make sure that the
search is set for the "Entire Directory".
14> You should now be able to see your contacts folder in the search.
15> Say OK.
16> And continue with completing the creation of the Query based DL.
