You can not backup "Mailboxes" with NT backup, you can however back up Exchange database (PRI/PUB EDB's) from another system. All you need to do is install Exchange Admin on the backup server. This allows the backup server to see the extended attributes of the exchange server. -j --------------------- Jack Spradling Michael Angelo's Gourmet Foods Austin, TX 512-218-3636 (direct line) jack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx -----Original Message----- From: raju [mailto:rajumv@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2002 6:26 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! Hi Saud Could you please tell me how you backed up mailboxes thru W2K backup and restored it another W2K server Raju -----Original Message----- From: Saud [mailto:saud@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wednesday, June 26, 2002 12:55 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! >Hi Saud >Do you know how to backup w2k and e2k to another server with different >hardware ? I am gonna try that in the next coming days. We have tried backing up e2k mailboxes using ntbackup and restored them on a different server with the same hardware and it seemed to be fine. Next time I will try backing up AD to restore it on another hardware using veritas backup. I will post a message here with the result when I do it. I also will try dumping the mailboxes to PST files to restore them on the same server as per Matt's recommendation and great help.
