VBE 8.6 + E2k Agent are a very worthwhile purchase. I have been using it since version 7.3 An excellent product. A slightly different version of backup exec is required for Advanced server 2k. I think it it the Veritas Net Backup Server Edition you need not the VBE 8.6 for NT/2000 Server Edition. You best check their website. You can download a trial version of VBE8.6 which do not need to put a serial number in to in order to try it out for 30 days. The file is 95MB or so, and would recommend at minimum of a 128k connection or you will be waiting hours! -----Original Message----- From: Elias, Delores [mailto:DELIAS@xxxxxxxxxx] Sent: 25 June 2002 17:58 To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! Speaking of Disaster Recovery, we tried to use ArcServe's DR on our exchange box which is a Compaq Proliant and it overwrote (messed up, however you want to put it) the EISA configuration. Then CA told us that their DR does not recognize an EISA configuration. Is this an issue with the Veritas backup that I'm reading about on here? -----Original Message----- From: Jack Spradling [mailto:JACK@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 12:49 PM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! You must purchase the exchange agent to backup exchange, at all... You really should look at the Disaster Recovery option also, this allows for much faster restores from bare metal. -j -----Original Message----- From: Ian Roberts [mailto:Ian@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 11:47 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! Many thanks for all your replies to my question. Been having A look on the Veritas website. Do you need to purchase the Exchange agent or will BackupExec do the job on it's own. I assume there would be extra functionality from the agent But is it necessary. Also if you are running advanced server Do you need the advanced server version of BackupExec or is That also just for extra features ????? -----Original Message----- From: Jack Spradling [mailto:JACK@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: 25 June 2002 16:48 To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! Veritas BackupExec 8.6 gives the administrator the ability to restore a piece of mail, a whole mailbox or many mailboxes. This function makes BE worth every cent. -----Original Message----- From: Rosser, Richard (Exchange) [mailto:richard.rosser@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx] Sent: Tuesday, June 25, 2002 9:43 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] Backup Exchange 2000 http://www.MSExchange.org/ - Re-Vamped! I've been told there are limitations or problems backing up Exchange 2000 using only Windows backup that comes with the OS. Can anyone please tell me the best software to use to back up Exchange 2000. ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: lmarioni@xxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: richard.rosser@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: jack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: Ian@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: jack@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: delias@xxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') *********************************************************** The information supplied in this message may be legally privileged.
