Dear Colleagues,
ETAI is pleased to invite you to attend a guest lecture on Monday,
January 1st, at 4:30 p.m., in the English Department of Levinsky College
of Education
(Kiryat Chinuch, Tel Aviv).
The topic will be, "Creating 'Open-Source' Classroom Communities: An
Introduction to Technology in the Writing Classroom,"
by Dr. Janice W. Fernheimer of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, New York.
This is a free lecture, open to all interested parties. It will take
place in room 118.
The 'Open Source' can be a productive model for collaborative classroom
pedagogy. An Open Source approach to learning encourages students to
take responsibility for their education and helps them improve critical
thinking skills and writing abilities. As part of an open-source
teaching ethic, blogs, wikis, and portfolio-based evaluation can be used
to strengthen community and collaboration in the writing classroom.
