Hi Pele, No, I haven't come across Winifred Holtby's short stories, I didn't know about them. I think I did notice the change from Bob to Bill Heyer, but just let it flow past me as I was so interested in the story.

Hi Trish Have you tried Winifred Holtby's short stories? I have a collection called "Remember, Remember" which I like very much. I have read quite a few of her books and none of them are nearly as good as "South Riding". It was published posthumously because Winifred Holtby died of Bright's disease just after it was written. In Vera Britain's biography of Winifred Holtby, "Testament of Friendship" she talks about proof-reading the book and there being errors that would not have been made had she been well. I wonder if anyone else has noticed the glaring error: Bill Heyer becomes Bob Heyer. Back to the cricket, only 2 wickets to go! Pele ----- No virus found in this message.
