Hi, Ann,
I found the DBTW file executable to re-establish this association using Windows
10. Here are the instructions. I hope this makes sense. Kay Chase
Re-Establishing File Association to Duxbury
1. Find a BRF file in Windows File Explorer.
2. Right click on the BRF file name
3. Click on Open With.
4. Tab once if using keyboard.
5. Click on More Apps.
6. Click on Find an App on This PC.
7. If using keyboard, press Shift-Tab twice.
8. Go back one level in the file tree with Backspace or by clicking Back
one level.
9. Click on Program Files 86 folder.
10. Click on Duxbury.
Click on DBT 12.4 (version number will vary.)
Click on DBTW.
11. You will then be placed back in the File Explorer list. Click on a BRF
file and you should have the Duxbury Import dialog coming up. I did not get
back to the Open With screen, so I’m assuming this association change IS
PERMANENT.

I just want to open it from file explorer. Duxbury used to open those
automatically.

If you import it to notepad you will be able to safe it as a brf file which
Duxbury can open. Notepad saves defaulted to txt so you need to change it to
brf. J

George, when I try to open a .brf from file explorer, I get an error message
that asks me to identify what app I want to open it with. How do I get my
computer to recognize Duxbury as the program with which to open that?

Before you open the file, go to DBT's Global: Formatted Braille Importer.
There is one check box labelled: “Read formatted braille without
interpretation”.
Check that and open the file again.

Hi,
I've downloaded and imported a brf file. My question is how do I maintain the
page numbering of the book that was brailled by a library for the blind? The
book is in AmericanUEB.
