I think she is trying to open BRF files directly in Duxbury for further
processing. One scenario where I have used this is to emboss a small range of
pages from a music book from NLS, without doing any formatting to the pages.
I think that the file association should be with dbtw.exe, but I might be wrong
about that. I usually launch DBT and find the BRF file I am interested in,
rather than doing it the other way. But I remember having this association
working at one time.

Hi,
What you need to do is re-establish the file association for DBT files to
Notepad. From File Explorer, find a file with a Dbt extension. Then, right
click via mouse or keyboard with Shift-F10. Choose the item called Open With.
Notepad should be there by default. If it is not, choose Find programs in the
Microsoft Store, and then, Find more programs on this PC. Choose Notepad. In
both of these senarios, make sure you check the checkbox so that Notepad is
always used to open DBT files.
Hope this helps.

If you import it to notepad you will be able to safe it as a brf file which
Duxbury can open. Notepad saves defaulted to txt so you need to change it to
brf. J

George, when I try to open a .brf from file explorer, I get an error message
that asks me to identify what app I want to open it with. How do I get my
computer to recognize Duxbury as the program with which to open that?

Before you open the file, go to DBT's Global: Formatted Braille Importer.
There is one check box labelled: “Read formatted braille without
interpretation”.
Check that and open the file again.

Hi,
I've downloaded and imported a brf file. My question is how do I maintain the
page numbering of the book that was brailled by a library for the blind? The
book is in AmericanUEB.
