Hi George, I believe it's the whole computer that freezes. These are the key combos I've tried: Jaws stops talking, whatever is on the braille display stays up, alt-tab doesn't work, alt-F4 doesn't work, alt-control-delete doesn't work. I can't seem to do anything, and then have to push the power button to reboot the PC. My first port of call would be the Application section of the Event Viewer, but that's perhaps a rather technical area, unless you have a local system administrator who could help. I've some ideas after that, but again a system administrator's help would be required. George. Everytime I open or create a file and translate to a DXB file, and then use alt-9 to have Jaws read the cursor position, the computer freezes. There is also an Alva braille display hooked up. At home I have various versions of Jaws standard and XP Home. I've tried to duplicate the same scenario with Jaws 7, 8 and 9 using DBT 10.7 but everything works fine here. This at least tells me that it should work at work. Can anyone suggest how to troubleshoot this problem? Thanks. Jean
