The cost of toll-free support has to be built into the [product
making it ever more expensive.
 
Most blind people I know have unlimited domestic long distance so
toll charges are less of an issue nowadays.
 
You can also obtain tech support buy e-mail or even postal mail
so even the destitute are not forgotten.

toll-free number, or if they infrequently provide updates and
take their time to conduct research that will benefit low-income
consumers?
