I feel like a kid listening to a bunch of adults discussing a problem.
After a while, the kid solution. The next thing that happens is someone says
"too bad there is not a solution"

Let me try again.

MegaDots can import British formatted braille formatted files (brf files).
MegaDots can recognize almost all of the formatting issues (location of print page indicators, etc.).

MegaDots can create a Word file with styles marked in a way that DBT can recognize most styles.

If your file failed to ever have caps signs, MegaDots is an ideal tool to repair the capitalization. There is already a rules file call "fix caps" which inserts capitaization based on good guesswork (like after dr. ).

DBT can import the file, yes, you do need to proofread, then DBT creates the UEB.

Who would like to give this a try?

E-mail me a braille formatted file, and lets see if we can work out a practical solution.

Yes, I can do a small handful of files to see if this works out.

If you need a few hundred files processed, a purchase of MegaDots would seem to be an item to put on your orrganization's agenda.

If the move to UEB is on the cards in your country - or even if not -
please, please read on. It may save you grief when you need these
same files in UEB.

Please try to keep ALL files relating to the translation of a
document.

1) The Word file(s) if you have used Word.

2) The Duxbury *.dxp file pre-translation.

3) The Duxbury *.dxb file after translation.

And I would add of fourth.

4) A simple, say Notepad, text file detailing any changes you may have
made to the post translated (*.dxb) file.

I'm sure many will complain about the space used, but if that's a
problem, there are many ways to securely store this kind of thing at
virtually no cost, from copying to CD or DVD locally, to things like
"Dropbox", http://www.dropbox.com, where you can get up to 2 gigabytes
of storage for free.

And wherever you do store stuff, make sure you provide for at least 2
copies.
