Hi Andre,

Actually they were really quite good little embossers and one of the
very few which could take both single sheets as well as both
continuous paper, with and without sprockets. We sold many
Porta-Thiels, the last of which was in 2000, so they are at least 10
years old now. With replacement rubber rollers (now made from a
better material) they should last another 10 years.

George.

Thanx george

Is it just me or is the paper feed really so bad and unreliable? Heve
you
used one of them?

Andre

Hi Andre,

Do you have anyone to hand who can remove the top cover? It's
relatively
simple to do with just a couple of screws at the rear.

Inside towards the front, there will be two rubber rollers.

Given the likely age of the machine, my best guess is that you will
find the
rubber on one or both of these feed rollers has disintegrated.

On the other hand, it could simply be that some paper has somehow
become
lodged in the embosser.

Unfortunately I don't know who is currently servicing and repairing
Thiel
embossers in the States these days - they are/were manufactured by
O.N/C.E.
in Spain.

George.

Hi all

I recently asked for some info regarding the portathiel and duxbury.
Thanks
for everyone who responded.

But it seems that my needs are actually more basic at this stage ...

I can't even get this printer to feed paper properly. It keeps
pulling the
paper askew each time. Is there something I don't understand here?

I have worked with a few printers but this is probably the worst paper
feed
mechanism I have ever seen!!

Andre
