One of the neat thing about MegaDots is that if you use the six-key entry as
your default in the braille side of things, you will automatically get 6-key
entry capabilities with you use MegaDots equivalent of "grade 0" on the
print side so that you don't have to really know the ASCII keystrokes. It
would be great if the same feature could be available in DBT or a more
modern braille production program some day.

Hi Mike,

Grade 0 is not really a code sanctioned by BANA or any other group. It is a
term we use at Duxbury to mean DO NOT TRANSLATE. Print text marked for grade
0 translation will come out character-for-character on your embosser. To
effectively use grade 0, you must know the ASCII braille.

Computer Braille Code (CBC) was developed by BANA in the early 1980's so
that blind computer operators could have a strict one-for-one equivalence,
with capital indicators, for text written in computerese. Some of the
contractions in braille would be hard to distinguish from special
characters, such as slash (/), if literary was used for computerese. CBC is
nearly identical to ASCII braille equivalents in its character mapping.

George.

What is grade 0? Is it the same as grade 1?

What happens if you open the file as print text file and then
"translate" it
as Grade 0?
