Your inside look at what's going on at HumanitiesDC

Humanitarian Highlights

Introducing Humanitarian Highlights, an introduction to the people who
impact the community through leadership, intellectual insights and
storytelling.

Jordan Campbell is a DC-based actor, scholar, and educator. He currently
serves as the Director of Research & Knowledge at Creative Generation, an
arts consultancy that works at the intersection of the arts, youth, and
social justice. In this role, he oversees a team of colleagues,
organizational strategy, and a portfolio of projects focused on research,
knowledge, and professional development.

Today, his career centers on ensuring access to the rich experiences he had
as a youth in his rural hometown. In a career that traverses the fields of
the performing arts, education, research, and policy, Jordan leverages his
interdisciplinary background to foster constructive social impact and
amplify the voices of marginalized youth.

Mr. Campbell is the curator of the Creative Justice Humanitini. You can
view the full video above.

‘We Are Penn Branch’ is an oral history project that seeks to document the

integrated Penn Branch, a neighborhood of approximately 550 single- family
homes in Southeast Washington, DC (Ward 7). It will focus on long-time
residents who purchased their home in Penn Branch between 1960-1968,
pivotal years of the Civil Right Movement and in U.S. housing and urban
policies. The interviews will be filmed with a single broadcast quality, 4K

Creative Justice: The Local & National Impact of DC Youth Artist-Activists

Video Now Available

In the social movements of the recent past, youth artist-activists in the
District of Columbia have had a profound influence on the bending of the
arc of justice. Due to the District’s unique role as the nation’s capital,
protests – many led by young people from DC – and their artistic
contributions have a dual impact: these young activists’ endeavors comment
on local challenges in the District (housing, violence, education,
homelessness, and more) while also standing on the front lines of global
movements and appearing in national media – all right here in their own
community.

This program was created and will be moderated by Humanitini Curator Grant
Recipient, Jordan Campbell. Panelists include Fly Zyah, Lauryn Renford,
Jonathan B. Tucker, and Jade Jones.
