Hmm, what about SampleLord? Anyone checked hits out yet? It's a sample player made by the people who sell Extreme Sample Converter. It can load GIG, SF2, FXP, NKI, EXB, WAV, AIFF and it's own format. There's a demo version of it available. This could be a cheaper option for people than VSampler. Mind you, don't think it runs as many formats as VSampler. More information about it can be obtained from:
http://www.samplelord.com/ It's not too expensive ether. You do need to go in and tweak some parameters in the .sfz file that the conversion software (in this case extreme sample converter) misses, but it does work, though not well with sample sets larger than around 700 megs or so in my experience, even with the dfd option active. But it is certainly the most viable sampling setup we have ever had in terms of our being able to build our own sampled instruments. I haven't used it for anything more than basic instruments, but it should work for you. You can't edit, but, if playing existing ones is all you want to do, you should be fine. I own the Ivory, but this newly sampled instrument adds a new character to the spectrum Ivory can do. I'm familiar with soft synths and sonar 4. However, I never worked with a software sample player, because most of this stuff does not seem to be accessible. Question now is: what would you guys recommend buying, to play libraries that come in the giga format: either v sampler, giga studio, or is there something else that you know of, that works accessibly for us? Interested to hear your opinions or experiences, Paul. ----- Original Message ----- From: "George Bell" <george@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> To: <ddots-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Friday, May 23, 2008 9:19 AM Subject: [ddots-l] Re: Cake Talking 7 documentation question

I sent it about an hour ago, but it didn't seem to get sent... I've just received my version of CakeTalking 7 for Sonar. However, I'm still awaiting my copy of Sonar 7 from Amazon, it should be arriving on Tuesday. Is there any way I can access to documentation and mannuals for CakeTalking so I can get a headstart for when Sonar arrives. I tried installing the CakeTalking scripts, but it says I need Sonar & installing. So, I downloaded the web trial, but then CakeTalking installer said I need the update for Sonar. I can't install the update because I haven't registered Sonar yet. Any way round this, or have I just got to sit tight. Many thanks in advance.
