Annabelle,
You're absolutely correct.  I did try to use it after you found it for me.
Unfortunately, it doesn't appear to work the way I would expect it to work.
I cut away some material and then used the feature.  Weirdly, the stuff I
cut away reappeared and, and this is even stranger, Sonar completely redrew
the tempo map of the project creating an absolute mess.  the solution
appears to be to move MIDi material to the closest downbeat you can and then
establish a new tempo beginning at that point.  It should be noted that I
was playing everything "wild," without a click, for about 40 measures prior
to the point where a tempo seems to have established or at least suggested
itself.  So, I think I'm on my way now.
