Hi Chris,

You can, Swithch to Automation mute. By going to. Manual mute on the track view. aplications key, down to Switch to automation mute. Then, on automation mute, again, aplication key and enable the automation write.

Well, on the vocal track you can make then,a snap shot. with control R.

play the track and stop with control space where you will make a snap shot. let it play where finish the mute and again, another snap shot.

If you want to be more precise, with F5, as you know you can make tics changes.

Also, i guess you can scrubble now on the track bview . Alt num pad 5 to enable. then Alt numbers 1,3. 4,6. 7,9.
minimum, middle and large left and right scrubble.

I believe there is a lesson about automation mute , on Cake talking, and a lesson about scrubble on the track view.

I think it's fastier by stop where i want to make the snap shot!

regards,
Rui

Subject: [ddots-l] Sergical/precise Audio Editing in Sonar?

Hi folks.

Usually, I do really precise stuff like muting individual breath sounds, fade-ins of loud pops, saliva noises etc. in Sound Forge. I'm talking about really picky editing, usually of vocal tracks.

But, until my weird problem in SF gets resolved, I have some projects whose vocal tracks require this sort of really precise editing and it looks like I'll be doing it in Sonar and CT.

I'm going to reread all the "working with audio clips" parts of the CakeTalking Tutorial, but generally, what's the fastest way to precisely select little bits of audio in Sonar?

I've used Sound Forge for this for years, because it's so quick just lowering the zoom ratio and using shift+arrows to select, refine the selection etc. I'm worried that in Sonar I'll have to open multiple dialogs, edit frame numbers etc. to accomplish the same thing, and it will take hours instead of minutes.

Is this the case?

thanks,
Chris
