Also, I've noticed something interesting. When I tab away from the Sonar
screen while I'm playing back something, the sound that I'm playing turns
off while JAWS is announcing which screen I'm on, but then turns back on
when I tab back to Sonar. Does this same thing happen while recording? Is it
like a pause button? Also, to clarify things. When I record my voiceover and
Instrument tracks, JAWS is heard in the Input Monitor Echo. That's what I
want to turn off while I'm typing in "Wordbuilder" of Eastwest Quantum Leap
Symphonic Choirs.

OK, then don't record jaws, just arm the voiceover audio track and the midi
track for the synth. But if you are doing an audio tutorial for blind
individuals, not hearing screen reader feedback, unless you plan to speak
all the dialogs or responses yourself, would be a bit interesting. Kind of
like watching a video tutorial where the instructor says click here, but no
one can see where he/she is clicking because there's no video! ;)

Hi, just record your entire tutorial to separate tracks, say one for you
voice, one for jaws, and the other for soft synth (just the midi track, not
the soft synth audio).
Then, once you've recorded jaws and your voice and the midi parts, you can
go in to those areas where you are not talking but playing, and you can mute
your voice track using automation. As Chris suggested, read about it in the
ct manual if you haven't used automation before.

I actually do record everything to separate tracks, recording each one one
at a time. The muting is where I have the problem, because it seems that
when I try to do it with Manual Mute when recording, I can still hear what's
going on in the voiceover track, when that's the one I want to be muted
while I'm playing the keys in the instrument track. This way I don't hear
the mechanical sound of the keys being played, only the sound of the
instrument.

It's easier to just record everything and make those edits later, as long as
you are recording to separate tracks. Then you can use automation to mute
and unmute tracks.

Hi, it's Annabelle.
I'm planning on making a tutorial for a virtual instrument, and I want to
find out, how can I mute my voiceover track before playing the keys on my
keyboard to demonstrate the instrument? More importantly, how would I mute
the track while recording within Sonar 8.5 Producer Edition? I also want
JAWS to automatically mute when the voiceover track is muted. Note that I
have JAWS running on the Soundmax Digital Audio soundcard built in to my
computer, while my voiceover track and the instrument track are running
through the MOTU 896HD Audio Interface.
