Dear Kevin,

Have you inserted a (send ) assignment to the tracks you are trying to send 
from?  

I think you need to read lesson number 34 of the CakeTalking user guide.  It is 
also under the folder (Tutorial\single help docs) of the CakeTalking 4.0 folder 
that should be on your Desktop after installing CakeTalking.
