I'm working with Sonar 5 and no longer have Sonar 4 or CT docs to work
with. I'm learning, or should I say relearning all about this and
things are becoming clearer.

Have you inserted a (send ) assignment to the tracks you are trying to
send from?
I think you need to read lesson number 34 of the CakeTalking user guide.
It is also under the folder (Tutorial\single help docs) of the
CakeTalking 4.0 folder that should be on your Desktop after installing
CakeTalking.
