Unfortunately, I've not found trying to install Wine at all user friendly.
Most of the instructions I found in my searching involved the usual linux
Cli work. :-)
1) I'm not going anywhere near linux Cli work. no app-get install etc, etc.
2) I searched online for a method using the GUI and the Install
applications menu, followed it, but it just failed every time.
I shall have one more go at it this evening. :-(
I don’t use Linux, but in Parallels on my iMAC I managed to create an Ubuntu
14.04 virtual machine, and then installed WINE using the instructions here:

From there it was easy to install Windows apps … Notepad++ and OPW.
OPW isn’t running as well as it does within Crossover (problems changing fonts,
for one), but that may be because I’m trying to run it under emulation (WINE)
within another emulator (PARALLELS).
