I would suggest that you look up trainweb.com and check out the CP
roster for photos.
I too have seen FM's not running. I was down in Duluth MN and saw the
FM switcher owned by
Hallet Dock Co. They also have a vintage EMD NW2.
Back in the late 70's, when I was active in the Naval Reserve, we sailed
down to Boston Mass. from Halifax. While we were there, we tied up at
the U.S. Coast Guard dock. I got a tour of one of the Coast Guard ships
including the engine room. It was gas turbine powered, but had 2 FM 12
cyl. O.P. engines that were the same model as those used in the H24-66
Train Masters. They were shut down, of course, so I didn't hear them
run either. I should mention that our little ships were powered by a
marine version of the ALCo 539 6 cyl. used in S-3 switchers.

supply
because these engines were also used for marine applications as well.
It's too bad I couldn't hear it run, someone from the museum had
left a
battery switch on and the batteries were dead....
