Trains 21-22 were always night trains, until their last few months October 1965
to January 1966 after the Pool service ended, when these numbers were used for
new evening trains on the same route.
As night trains, 21-22 always carried coaches. Due to heavy loads they
sometimes ran with a second section, and when that happened the coaches might
be in a separate section from the sleepers. Parlor service, as such, was not
offered on these night runs. If a parlor car ran, it would likely have been for
beverage, light food and lounge service as a replacement or an addition to
regular cars for this purpose.

Regarding Trains 21 (Montreal - Toronto) and 22 (Toronto -
Montreal), from
the CP Timetable for April through October 1957, these were
night trains.
Would the consist of these trains have been sleeping cars only
or were
there coaches and parlor cars as well.
Actually, I'm most interested in the days when the K1a 4-8-4's
were hauling
the train. I don't have timetables from pre 1955 and am
assuming they were
night trains at that time as well.
Thanks
