I have viewed this disscussion regarding a passenger train for a CPR G3 ok
I a have 5 Norwest kits (grove cars on my work bench now what a freaking job
and BGR cars are beautiful . I don,t know about Fred Shannon,s creations
because he doesn,t follow up with pricing delivery etc however close
freinds have told me about health issues and he has had a fire (thats enough
to make anyone ill having to deal with a siuation like that . Now heres a
quick fix for a cpr passenger train . There were the dale series sleepers
bought from NYC they were pullman standard cars both Walters and Rapido
make those . But I imagine there are those with their rivet counter bage
from boy scouts lol they have to stick to BGR or GWPCD..Then there are the
Pullman Standard heavyweights that Branchline produced last year. They were
a Modelers Choice (Hamilton)they are listed in modelrailroader they have an
exclusive on these cars they even come with Kaydee couplers . They depict
the 6 sleepers that were purchased from Soo line they are pullman standard
heavyweight . Also coaches are offered theres a quick fix for a CPR
passenger train from the golden age .. Now a message to Dale Wilson why
don,t you reprint the CPR bible (Abby to Zorra ) I have lost mine when we
moved my buddy has one but he keeps it in a safe with a burgler alarm and
armed guards he won,t let me near it regards DAVID HILL

Hello again to all...somewhat related to my previous post:
Are there any decent references out ther on CP passenger equipment?
Dale Wilson’s “From Abbey to Zorra via Bagdad” is worth getting. It has
lots of photos of cars from the time period you’re interested in. The only
downside is it is a difficult book to find. Other than that there are a few
Morning Sun books that have photos of trains but there is no general
reference guide for CPR passenger cars like there is for CN. There are
people working on definitive CPR passenger car reference book there is no
ETA on when it will be ready. In the meantime ask the list.
Again, I'm looking to put together a late 40's-early '50's passenger
train in HO, probably a secondary train as power will be a G-3g. I've
The G3g class is a mainline engine and would be found at the front of almost
anything. The G3g class was delivered in both freight and passenger
livery - engines 2388-2399 were passenger service Tuscan red and gold leaf
lettering; engines 2400-2417 in freight black panels and gold paint
lettering. The passenger service engines were reassigned to freight service
in the winter of 1941. Those engines would eventually have been eventually
repainted to freight lettering.
looked at the Rapido cars, but understand that they are correct only
for CN, but just how incorrect are they? I've looked at pics of the
Depends on how accurate you want to be. The CN cars are 85’-4½” over
buffers compared to 83’-10½”. Regardless of what the VH model looks like
the CPR car’s side is curved. The only flat area on the side is the window
frame area. The CPR cars ride on different trucks and there are numerous
other details that are different. When you know how to spot the CPR car you’ll
be able to pick them out pretty easily.
