Further to my posting of earlier today, where I reported on my photos
of:
"1. Open tri-level auto racks:
CN 700001 in Vancouver on 1962/12/22, and
CP 550013 in Vancouver on 1962/12/26
and:
"2. Icicle-breaking boxcars:
CP 240559 in Vancouver on 1963/02/16, and
CP 245139 in Coquitlam and Vancouver on 1963/05/05"
A check of the January 1963 ORER in the CPHA library shows cars 550000
to 550099 listed with a "star". In the footnotes, a "star" = "denotes
additions". Further, there is no total number of cars shown, so
presumeably they were still being delivered as of the January 1963
ORER publication date.
I believe this should put to rest any question of why and when the
icicle breaker boxcars were made.
