Thanks, everyone, for your input! In summary then, it would seem that it would 
be
more common to find immitation gold lettering used on the remaining steam power 
in
the transition era. Now, what about passenger cars...when was the lettering 
changed
to immitation gold? Looking through "Morant's Canadian Pacific" by Garden seems 
to
indicate passenger cars have immitation gold lettering in the early diesel era, 
but
most steam photos are in black & white. Would the repainting of the lettering of
passenger cars coincide with the repainting of the lettering of steam engines 
due to
austerity, etc.?
