I don't have very much on the 5408. I know it was assigned to Winnipeg
east in May 1954. In Weston for shopping and repairs in Oct. 1955. I then
show it as assigned to Ft. William west freight in June 1956. The next I have
is it was "Tied Up Serviceable" at Weston early in 1957. Shows tied up there
all through 1957, 58, and 59 which is as far as my assignment sheets go. Looks
like it was never restored to service, but I'm not positive of this. It
lingered on at Weston until being scrapped in Dec. 1965, one of the last to go.

Yes this certainly clears things up for me as well, I'd always mistakenly
assumed
it was as difference in the Worthington design.
BTW. Ray do you have anything on the final assignment of CP 5408. It's listed
in
Omer's book as being assigned to Kenora in 1952. I have pictures of it on the
Kam
sub out of Fort William in June of 1956 ?

Thanks to all who replied. I didn't think the Elesco vertical FWH was a
Worthington, because it is physically much larger in dimension, but until I
saw it referred to as an Elesco vertical FWH, I really didn't know what it
was. Now I do.
That's the great thing about this hobby, you are always learning.
