Did the 1946 8-Hatch steel refrigerator car, with 5' wide hinged door
and Dreadnaught end, have wore the passenger scheme?
No, there was an entirely different series of steel cars delivered in 1950 that
were for passenger service; however, 145 cars in the 1946 series were equipped
for dual service. So those cars were painted as a standard freight reefer but
would have lettering over the right hand bolster indicating that they were
equipped for passenger service. Look for stencil drawing G-34-C-110 in the
CPHA Library.
