It is always difficult to argue against personal recollection
although we all know our recollections can get fuzzy with time,
especially some 50 years later. I only have TTs for 1953 but I
assume that the Red Wing stopped at St.J in 1955 as it did in '53
which would have meant that the mail pickup by the working RPO would
not have been on the fly. FWIW in Summer 1953 the southbound Wing
was scheduled to stop @ St.J @ 0154 EDT. I don't know what the
scheduled time was in '55 but if the same +/- it would jibe with
your friend's working at the hotel 'til around midnight.
