Brian-
Do you have an old speaker magnet around?
If so put it at the bottom of a long sock or other do-hickey and swing it close
to the
carpet where you thing you lost it and it should pick it up-works a charm
provided it's not
a brass screw. Also works to pick up nails, staples that spill onto say a lawn.
Another trick is to fit a small nylon stocking over a vacuum nozzle and comb
the area that
way-if it picks up the screw you can retrieve it from the nylon "filter".

I'm in the process of installing a decoder in my Proto RS18, finallly.
Working on a TV table in my living room I removed the necessary
screws to remove the body. Not long after I noticed that one of the
body screws had evaporated. A careful on-my-knees search produced
nothing. Does anyone know the size of the screw that holds the body
to the frame? Is an American size, 00-90, etc., or is it a metric
size? Also, what size are the coupler screws, not that I need one yet?
