Rob et al; The queen married in 1947 so was already married for 5 years
when her father died. If the tour was after the King died then it would
have been after Queen Elizabeth's coronation. As a small boy I remember
one of the royal trains coming through Revelstoke (~ 1960). It stopped and
the royals made a short tour of the town in an open car. My group of
friends watched and waved as they made their way up First Street and then
waved to them again as the train left town. The royal couple were on the
observation deck of the heavyweight observation car and waving as they
passed small groups of people along Victoria Street. As there were only a
few people near me to watch the train leave and they appeared to look
directly at me as they waved I always thought they were waving to me.
Seeing the royal train as a 6 year old did not seem like a big deal, but
what would I give to see the royal train (sans royals) now!

Vancouver, mostly connected to the 1939 visit and then the tour after King
George died (forget if it was after the wedding or coronation of the
queen.). Are there another colour film images of the railway equipment in
use in the rest of Canada? What I particularly am interested in is the
stuff that isn’t “royal train” that is depicted in the vicinity.
