Thanks for the info Ken. John and I, as you can tell, have had many
discussions about the milk car movements after the dedicated milk
trains stopped in 1951. After diselization, train 906 always had a
single RS2 which is also what hauled the milk trains between Newport
and Woodsville.
John, it looks like that often talked about photo of the B&M RS3
running past Wells River with the milk cars around 1953 is probably
906. I'm sure it was still hauling other cars besides the milk as it
had previously, but the photo was more than likely taken on a Sunday
when there was no other cars heading south.
The train was established right after WWII and I believe it was a
catch all that brought south what ever didn't make it on 902. This
would explain why it always had a single diesel instead of the dual
units that ran on the other trains.
