Passenger trains 213/214 did originate and terminate there
for a time. Those were originally RPO-equipped Montreal-Newport

further cut back to Farnham at least as of Laurentian & Farnham
Div. ETT #27 of 4/30/67. Given their timing I'd guess by then
they were commuter runs. Anybody know if they retained the RPO
that late?
John, the information I've seen or been able to deduce indicates that the
Montreal & Newport RPO on #213/214 was transferred to the "Alouette" ca. 1952
when #213/214 was cut back from Newport to Sutton. When this happened the
actual southern terminus of the car was extended first to Woodsville, VT and
after October 1954 when the "Alouette" was rerouted to White River Junction,
VT. However the RPO route still ended at Newport. At this time I don't know if
the Canada post office personnel staffing the RPO also went through to
Woodsville or WRJ or if they detrained at Newport. I know there were cases were
U.S. post office personnel went through into Canada even though their RPO route
officially ended at some point within the U.S.
