Oh to be in one of CP Hotels & Resorts in the Balmy Sun at one of CP's
Fairmont resorts in Bermuda, Mexico, like Acapulco, or in the Barbados or
Arizona too. In Canada at the Chateau Lake Louise or the Banff Springs,
Chateau Whistler at Whistler Village but that's too close to home. If I did
go to the different CP Resorts, I would have to leave my money behind first
for Christmas, so I have decided to stay home.
I'm thinking of all the ships of the Canadian Pacific Fleet that will be at
Sea over Christmas-Australia New Zealand Direct Line; Canada Maritime; Cast;
Lykes Lines Ltd., TMM; Contships etc.
Thinking back regarding CP's former "White Empresses" for Christmas in
Caribbean cruising, and the biggest of them all the former 42,500 ton
"Empress of Britain"(2nd) in the Carribbean, or beginning her annual World
Cruise from New York -133 or so days. She was a "Graceful-and Beautiful
Lady"; after only nine(9) years old she died young in the Second World War.
Another Graceful sister was about to be born-same size and design "Empress
of Hawaii" for CP's Pacific Fleet-but the war put a stop to CP's project.
At this time of year, my thoughts go back to the "Great Days" of Canadian
Pacific passenger trains-heavy Christmas Travel throughout the system, not
to forget the Soo Line, Dominion Atlantic, Quebec Central, Duluth South
Shore & Atlantic and the TH&B.
Many extra sections being operated, busy railway stations, crowded
platforms-a great way and great place to be watching the heavy Christmas
activity-oh yes, that beautiful gracious CPR steam and what the Tuscan red
passenger car consist of the different passenger trains. CPR's Tuscan
Red-Grey-Black & gold steam power also graced its Diesel power-and by th
looks of things with the "Royal Canadian Pacific" and CPR Tours the Tuscan
Red & Grey has slowly come back. That's part of my thoughts for Christmas.
