Thanks for that information John, and the best wishes. I can almost taste
tomorrow's turkey. Do you know if these cars had the extra room added while
still on the Golden State?

I wasn't aware of this type of car, but I have found a listing for a

before they entered the Pullman pool.

This was a very rare car configuration for standard-weight Pullmans,
3dr-3cpt-lng-obs. They were not built that way but converted from
another configuration (3-2-lng-obs to be exact which is where some
of the confusion in this thread may have come from). All these 3-3-
lng-obs cars had names with a GOLDEN prefix and were originally
assigned as-built to the CRI&P and the "Golden State" train operated
by the RI and SP between Chicago and Los Angeles.
These GOLDEN cars remained in Pullman ownership after the 1948
divestiture and were sold to scrap still wearing the standard
Pullman painting and lettering scheme. I suspect after the Golden
State went LW after WW2 Pullman was always looking for trains to
assign the old SW cars to.
And a Happy Thanksgiving to all in Canada!
