Hi Rainer,

     You are correct to a point, the trailers in Morants book got 
that red paint scheme in 1963. Before that they where painted 
killarney green. It took the CPR almost 10 years to either to devest 
them selves of old Smith Transport equipment. Or re-painted the 
equipment they kept. The same is true for both Dench Transport and 
O.K. Valley Express Lines.  Which happened in about the same time 
frame.

Garden's "Nicholas Morant's Canada". The express trucks
appear to be a bright red bordering on orange, see pages
79 and 81 and there's a great Smith B-train on page 82
with an IH cabover sporting a yellow nose. The yellow is
the same as the Smith lettering on the pups. BTW, it indicatea
Smith came into the CPR fold in 1958.

And I have now read the instructions with the Black Cat decals 
and know
the tractors were green.
So, do I dare ask if anyone knows what shade of green.
I have a dim memory of somewhere between a Burlington green and a 
Pullman
green, but rob is saying in his posts 'we all have different 
perceptions'
and I know my color sense is pretty poor.

I believe the Smith trucks were/are blue.
I think the express box vans were about the same red as the 
tuscan red?

On page 13 of Richard Yaremko's book there is a shot of an early 
1960s CP
Dodge tractor unloading trailers from flat cars. It is green - 
about what
you describe - somewhere between Burlington and Pullman green. 
The Smith
tractors on page 12 almost look black, but I think that is from 
the
printing
of the photo in the book. I have seen a restored White 22 in Smith
colours.
It is dark blue (almost navy blue) with red wheels, frame and 
fuel tanks.
The Smith tractors in Richard's book have the radiator shell 
painted light
orange,almost a schoolbus yellow which is not on the restored 
truck I saw.
BTW If you have the book, look at the White 9000 on the ramp. It 
has a
pnuematic lift fifth wheel that picks the trailer up so the 
driver does
not
have to get out and crank the dollies up and down when he 
manoueversd it
around the yard.
