*******Are you refering to CP Express? I don't recall any green.
They were red in Toronto.
I believe the Smith trucks were/are blue.
***********Smith Transport is a long time fallen flag. The Smith
paint scheme changed with the Multi Mark.
The pre-multi mark tractors were dark blue. Post multi-mark paint
was light blue.
Smith Transport was joined with CP Express to form
CP Express and Transport
I think the express box vans were about the same red as the tuscan
red?
********** I remember them as a brighter red. The bright red was
used for CP Merchandise Services in British Columbia
I'm not sure about CP contracting out the local delivery except to
note that
Smith Transport did so for CP at least in the east. If you check out
Richard
Yaremko's latest book there is a shot on page 12 of Smith unloading
CP
trailers in Montreal. Smith was bought out by CP in the early
1960s. The
tractors in the photo include a White Super Power (in the
background) and a
White 9000 (identical to the 4000 but with a shorter hood) on the
ramp.
************ I remember Smith doing a lot of CP work. There were CP
box cars spotted at the Smith terminal at 150 Commisioners Street. I
also remember watching Smith drivers loading piggy-back flats here
in Toronto, circus style.
The CP Express trucks that were seen off Wellington Street at the
freight sheds were a different paint scheme entirely. They wore
the "Canadian Pacific" script lettering on the doors.
This all would've been around Centennial Year.
