The Common R2021-4.1.3 update released over the weekend seems to have resolved 
the main issue introduced in last week’s update (an error message appearing @ 
launch) for me.

At least one user had an issue with an update prompt appearing on-screen but 
stalling after clicking “Yes” to proceed. After closing all Install and Updater 
Utility (IUU) tasks, it completed normally.

I am trying to improve our silent installer scripts to make fixing these issues 
more automatic. Does anybody want to share their scripts?

I have found the ClientSetup.exe installer does not always reliably 
remove/reinstall the “Common” component, and I’m not sure why. It will 
uninstall and reinstall the Install and Update Utility (IUU) all day long, but 
completely ignore broken/missing parts of the subcomponents. I have found that 
I have to use additional commands to completely erase all traces of Axcess from 
\ProgramData.

Really tired of the CCH Axcess ‘IT overhead’ which is unlike anything I’ve ever 
seen in my career with a vendor. Every update there is a significant percentage 
of people that require manual intervention to uninstall/reinstall CCH Axcess, 
and they are essentially dead in the water and can’t work so you have to drop 
whatever you’re doing and prioritize those. As the Firm scales up the problem 
just gets bigger and requires more IT resources. They have another CCH Axcess 
update scheduled for this weekend to address some issues from the last update, 
so we have back to back updates 2 weeks in a row. Fortunately, it’s just the 
'CCH Axcess Common' component instead of all of them, so hopefully this one 
won’t be so bad. Their software development/QA/QC/testing is substandard IMO. I 
understand these are complex systems with a lot of moving parts, but we’re also 
paying a lot of money to deal with a lot of overhead. The older I get, the less 
tolerance I have for mediocrity.

There are other frustrations here with Axcess from users/operations/partners 
and we’re likely to drop Axcess entirely and move in another direction when our 
contract expires in 1 year, but I don’t relish the idea of another data 
migration, which we all know is a massive undertaking and there is always 
fallout from those migrations.

Has anyone else noticed CCH Axcess Tax and DataScan won’t install from the CCH 
Install and Update Manager? Gets to like 30% and stays there. If you uncheck 
Tax and DataScan everything else installs fine. I’ve been using the silent 
installers for Tax/DataScan, but curious if anyone else is seeing this..been 
going on for a few months now
