Do you get anything on the screen (ie "POST" aka power on self test) and then nothing or absolutely nothing? IF Post then nothing could be a dead hard drive or corrupt XP. If nothing at all could be the video card is loose, dead or the motherboard or memory are bad or even that the power supply is partly bad - they have +5, -5 and +12 circuits. Motors like fans and HD motors run on the +12. The LEDs, motherboard, memory, circuits etc use +5 and -5. First unplug from the wall for 30 mins. Plug back in and retry. ATX power supplies are live and the motherboard turns them on and off - if the logic gets temporarily messed up they can hang. > -----Original Message----- > From: computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:computertalkshop-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx]On Behalf Of Debbie > Robbins > Sent: Monday, January 23, 2006 8:35 AM > To: computertalkshop@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [CTS] blank screen > > > Both the monitor and the computer seem to be working but > the screen is blank and the reset and power button do not > work.
