I don't have any kids.
My estate goes to my siblings and my younger brother used to collect comics. So
he would probably we interested in keeping the comics.
He hasn't shown any particular interest in the art. My sister is interested in
a couple of my paintings so everything else art wise will be consigned for
auction/sale. I am leaving the names of the auction houses and at least one
dealer and they can decide who gets it.
A couple months ago I had my water heater die and it leaked water into my
library. I lost only around 300 comics and magazines that were not bagged but 4
paintings sustained some water damage.
But I had the pain of moving most of my stuff out of my library so that the
water specialists could dry the room out and then back in.
So it was a reminder that I have accumulated too much stuff.
So to that end I have been aggressively downsizing starting with my books. So
far I have unloaded close to 1,000 books and magazines to three local dealers
and donated several hundred more. I also sold three paintings but I don't
intend to sell any comic art anytime soon.
I still have more books to sort through and when I am done with that I'll be
slimming down my comics collection. And I have to figure out what to do with my
comic statues.
After that I may consider selling some comic art.

I was asked an interesting question by a friend the other day. She asked
whether my kids were going to be interested in my hobby. After thinking
about it, I think my honest answer is probably not. Now even though I have
bought a number of nostalgic pieces and they are my grails, I think my
appreciation of the art form has grown over time to include stuff I never
read, let alone as a kid. However, I think my kids will only be interested
as it might remind them of me and that it hung on the way of their childhood
home. Soooo, interest must me more nostalgia! Thoughts?
