That is correct, I have no problem is requesting taxi or IFR clearance.

When I request take off clearance, I hear nothing whatsoever. I also try
manually switching to the towers frequency, and requesting take off

It might help to include the transcript of your IYP session. I’ve had
no problems requesting clearance from KORD myself, so I suspect
something is strange on your end. Are you using MS ATC< PF3, or
