This problem is unique to MS-ATC.
The only other thing you could try would be to, ask for takeoff clearance
(which you will not get), but say to Michelle, "We have the clearance."
Move on and complete the before takeoff checklist and proceed to the
takeoff checklist as normal.
Then, once airborne and you pass through 2,000 feet AGL say, "Refile IFR
Flight Plan". The simulator will pause, and you can once again get
clearance, in this case, from where you are in space.
Let me know how this goes. I haven't used that feature in years!
