Last time I was really working at learning FSX was around 2013 or so.
Since then, I retired from my job, and have more time to learn - and I
can braille out some docs; easier for me to read more technical stuf
than listen to it via speech output.--Matt.

Hi, Robert. I once again tried the Learning center and found some
good, readable text that works with my screenreader. Reviewed the
first lesson. Very informative, though I already knew some of the
basics. Sometimes, it's nice to be pleasantly mistaken.
Also, have ordered another copy of FSX for my desktop system so I
can use it at home where things are less cramped.
Nice to get back into FSX.--Matt.

Hello Matthew,
REGARDING: No help in the Learning Center
Wow! That is an amazing statement.
There are over 300 pages of instructions and suggestions in the
two manuals that can be found under the link entitled Resources. In order to get to these manuals, please do the following:
To access all BVI facilities, go to the IYP site:
http://www.itsyourplane.com
Click on the top link entitled:
BLIND PILOTS CLICK HERE
Clicking that link will take you here:
http://itsyourplane.com/html/blind.asp
<http://itsyourplane.com/html/blind.asp>
Please read this material.
On that page, you will find a link entitled:
Site Map – Perhaps you can find things more easily this way.
Clicking that link will take you here:
http://itsyourplane.com/html/sitemap.asp
<http://itsyourplane.com/html/sitemap.asp>
On that page, you will find links to every page on the system,
including a link entitled:
Resources
Clicking that link will take you here:
http://itsyourplane.com/html/manuals.asp
<http://itsyourplane.com/html/manuals.asp>
There you will filed the two main IYP manuals entitled:
IYP Users' Manual (PDF) up to and including Version 5.1.0.005
IYP Flight Deck Doc Version 5.009 (PDF) - a supplement to the IYP
Users' Manual.
On the sitemap page, there's also a link to Youtube videos
There is a video that you should definitely listen to that I
published on Feb 7, 2014 entitled: FSX Tutorial 2
Here's the link to the video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tCIn4XlYEM&t=42s
<https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tCIn4XlYEM&t=42s>
The caption reads:
"Demonstration flight using It's Your Plane (IYP) in the BVI
(Blind and Visually Impaired) or Physically Handicapped (PH)
mode. In this gate-to-gate flight, the disabled pilot conducts
all of the checklists and controls all aspects of flight without
ever touching his keyboard or mouse."
At the start of this video, there's an musical intro and a text
message for sighted individuals who may be interested in
referring IYP to a handicapped or visual impaired family member
of friend. The text during the intro reads as follows:
"Once FSX was started, the flight loaded and the IYP application
was started, I (as Captain) never once touched my keyboard or
mouse throughout the entire 960 nautical mile flight from New
York's KJFK to Miami's KMIA airport. This video serves to
demonstrate how blind and physically handicapped pilots fly."
Incidentally, when I recorded this video, I had a horrible head
cold, so some of my voice commands were not understood by the IYP
application. But, we pressed on!
I STRONGLY SUGGEST that you listen to this video in its
entirety. It will certainly diminish your need to pour over
hundreds of pages of documentation.
REGARDING: How do I go through the checklists and pick the right
runway.
From the sitemap page referenced above, click on the link entitled:
Supported Aircraft
The caption on that page reads:
COLUMNS:
AC: 4 character ICAO Aircraft Code *(Click AC for aircraft
checklists)*
AF: Ground operations can Auto-Fill Fuel Tanks
AT: Your Co-Pilot can perform the complete take off procedure
with the specific aircraft
AL: Your Co-Pilot can Auto-Land the aircraft on BOTH ILS and
Visual approaches
Each specific checklist provides you with both the co-pilot
query, and your suggested responses.
REGARDING: Also, how do I get the proper freqs when I bring up
the radio stack?
From the sitemap page referenced above, click on the link entitled:
SimpleATC Communcations
The ATC communications process is described in excruciating
detail for all modes of flight.
I hope this helps.

Hi, Folks. It's been a while since I flew, so have some
questions:
How do I go through the checklists and pick the right runway.

Also, once in the air, how do I enable GPS and navigate to
land? No help in the Learning Center.
