Hi again, Thank goodness things were a little better this day for
theInternational Migratory Bird Day event! The thickets near the lake are
primed for arriving migrants. These woods should be hopping in another week!

Red River National Wildlife Refuge- Headquarters Unit, Bossier, US-LA
Apr 20, 2013 6:15 AM - 10:55 AM
Protocol: Traveling
1.3 mile(s)
Comments:     2 observers, in part (Mark Wilson joined me later in morning for
Lake bluff to South portion of walk), 4 hrs, 40 minutes, 1.3 miles. Calm, clear
40 degrees beginning, notably warmer and light s winds later. Arrived a bit
late at 0605 to listen for caprimulgids briefly, then began the same route as
previous day at 0615 at the lake overlook/pier. The calm conditions certainly
made for better birding in terms of migrants. Although the lake was rather
slow, there were decent counts of a few neotrops. Some counts such as RBWO were
surprisingly lower than previous and notably windier day.
