MEET THE HEADTEACHER

When I started at Broad Oak Primary School, I held a short ?Meet the new
Headteacher? meeting for parents on the 2nd September. However, at that
stage in the term, our Reception children had not yet started school. I am
therefore planning to hold another such meeting in the school hall on Monday
29th September at 9.00am. The meeting should last no longer than 15 minutes
and is for anyone who can attend!! It will follow the same format as last
time (and probably the same jokes) so, although you are more than welcome to
come again, you won?t hear anything new if you attended on the 2nd. See you
there!!

DROP OFF TIME

Could I remind you that the children are not supposed to be dropped off at
school before 8.45am, as there is no teacher on duty to ensure that they are
safe. If your child / children need to be dropped off before 8.45am you
could always use our Early Drop Off facility. Children can be dropped off
from 8.30am onwards, and the children are supervised until the beginning of
the school day. It is £1.10 per session. Don?t forget, we also have a
Breakfast Club where the children can be dropped off as early as 8.00am.
This is priced at £2.30 per session, and the children receive a breakfast.

BUG BUSTING WEEK

Are you Bug Busting? Hopefully you received a yellow Bug Busting comb on
Friday in your child?s book bag. Please check your child?s/children?s hair
everyday this week and sign the form. When it is completed ? send it in to
school (no later than next Wednesday 1st October) and we will then reward
the children!!

EARLY REMINDERS

Two dates for your diary for next week ? both happening on Wednesday October
1st:

BAG 2 SCHOOL ? THURSDAY 3 OCTOBER 2008 9.00 ? 11.15am

Don?t throw away your old winter clothes or summer clothes that no longer
fit ? recycle them and let the school benefit. ?Bag 2 School? is an
organisation that specialises in recycling unwanted items such as ladies?,
men?s and children?s clothing, bedding, curtains, soft toys, belts and
handbags. (It is not a registered charity but is on the National Association
of PTA?s Recommended Suppliers List.) The company pay us 20p per kg ? so the
more we collect, the greater the reward.

Your children will be bringing home a distinctive blue bag which can be
filled with unwanted clothing etc. and brought in to school on THURSDAY 3
OCTOBER (Further bags can be obtained from school or black bin bags used.)
Please help us help your children.

PLEASE DO NOT BRING BAGS TO SCHOOL BEFORE THIS DATE AS WE HAVE NO STORAGE
FACILITIES.

BOOK FAIR

The Book Fair will be in school from Wednesday, 1 October until Tuesday, 7
October 3.15-3.45pm in the junior area. Please support this event and come
along to choose books with your child. If any parent is willing to help run
the book fair, this would be very much appreciated - please advise school
office staff or Mrs Ashton if you are able to help.
