Newsletter No: 3

Date: 16 September 2008

Week 3 already!! Where is the time going?!

I think I?m on track learning the names of the children in the school ?
although I must admit I?ve lost count of how many I do know!!

THE NEWSLETTER

As many of you know, a weekly newsletter is published by school every week,
keeping you up to date with all the latest ?goings on? at Broad Oak Primary
School. If you don?t find one in your child?s book bag on a Tuesday evening,
just ask at the school?s office as we do keep spares.

For those people who like to access the School?s newsletter through the
Website, it can be found in the ?School events? section on the left hand
side of the Homepage.

I must apologise that I made a mistake on last week?s letter regarding the
?dates for your diary?. Parent?s evenings are in November and not October.
So please amend the list we gave you last week!

Tuesday 18th November Parent?s evening
5.30 to 8.00pm

Thursday 20th November Parent?s evening
3.30 to 6.00pm

BUG BUSTING

As you know, Headlice are proving to be a menace in many primary schools and
households. The best way to get rid of the pests is to regularly check hair
(at least once a week) with a fine Headlice comb. Then, if spotted, treat
with one of the many shampoos found at Chemists and Supermarkets.

To raise awareness of Headlice checking we are planning a ?Bug Busting?
week, where we ask you to comb through your child?s/children?s hair every
night for a week. When you do this we ask you to sign a special form to say
that this has been done. When the form is returned to school we will then
reward the children. The bug busting week was scheduled for this week.
However, we are postponing this as we have ordered some Headlice combs and
they haven?t arrived yet. When they do we will distribute them to you, free
of charge, and then we can get ?Bug Busting?!

KEEP FIT

Keep Fit after school club will start this week for children in Years 3-6.
Please sign and return the slip at the end of the newsletter if you wish
your child to take part.

CAR PARKING

It has been noticed that some of our parents/carers are driving their cars
into the school car park at the beginning and at the end of the school day,
in order to drop off/collect their children.

Unfortunately, due to Health and Safety reasons, we ask parents not to do
this. With nearly 170 children, their parents / carers, prams, pushchairs
and bicycles moving around the school gates at this time ? it seems
inevitable that an accident may happen.

If you could therefore please park your car at the end of the drive and walk
the children into school, it would be much appreciated.

Thank you in anticipation of your support in this matter.

FRIENDS OF BROAD OAK (PTA)

The AGM will take place in school on Monday 22 September at 7.00pm. New
members are always welcome, so do please try to come along.

YOU, YOUR CHILD AND IT

Are you interested in IT but can?t keep up with your child? Would you like
to work together with your child to try out new ideas? Find out how you can
use IT to develop literacy skills. These sessions are free of charge and
start on Thursday, 18 September for 6 weeks from 3.15-4.45pm in school. If
you would like to join us, please sign and return the attached slip.

Praise Assembly, They were:
