Newsletter No: 2 Date: 9 September 2008 Has a week gone already?! Thank you to all the parents who came to my ?Meet the New Headteacher? meeting last Tuesday. If you missed it, don?t worry as I will be holding another one in the near future. Look out for details on the Newsletter. DRINKS IN SCHOOL At Broad Oak, we encourage children to bring a drink in during the day (in addition to their lunchtime drink). It is the school policy, however, that this drink should only be water as sugared drinks during the day can lead to tooth decay problems. Therefore please can you make sure that if your child/children bring a drink in for the day time, it is plain water in a see-through, sports capped bottle. No squash or flavoured water please. SATURDAY MORNING GYMNASTICS Susan Di Franco runs a Saturday morning Gymnastics club at our school. It runs from 9.00 to 10.00am for beginners and 10.00 to 11.00am for intermediate / advanced gymnasts. If you are interested in booking a place for your child, pop down at about 9.00am on Saturday morning and have a chat with Susan. Prices are £11 per child for a six-week period. CYCLING TO SCHOOL There are some spaces available for bicycles in the school?s cycle storage facility. Priority for cycle storage will be given to those children who used the facility last year in the first instance. After that this will be determined by frequency of use and then by age of the child i.e. a child who uses their cycle daily and is one of the eldest is more likely to be given permission to store their cycle in the storage facility. Parents must request to have cycle storage from the school office, signing a copy of the form attached to this newsletter. Determination as to which children will be given storage will normally take place every September. A waiting list will be kept if the number of places requested exceeds the number available. Parents will be informed in writing if storage is available for your child?s cycle along with a pass that must be attached to the cycle during storage. Parents are encouraged to read the ?Cycling to School Policy? which is available on the school?s website. Paper copies are available from the school office. SCHOOL LUNCH ?
