Should be
./configure

You may also want to use the "automake" tools:

cd liblouis/trunk
aclocal
autoconf
automake --add-missing
./configure

Are your permissions set right?

sudo chmod -R 755 liblouis/trunk
cd liblouis/trunk
./configure

John,

When I run the configure command in the liblouis directory, I get the error
message that the command isn't found. I installed the build-essential package.
What else do I need to install?

Best regards from Ohio,

Vic
