Hi Cindy!Guess what...I was not able to upload my books...again. I was able to submit one book and then the system refused to take the rest. I took out the spaces in the file name, as well as all punctuation, but nothing worked. I tried everything and it just would not work for me. I wrote to John and hopefully he can help me with this. I even have a document with all the synopses that go with these books!
Okay, I am going back to scanning...less frustrating. *L* Maithe----- Original Message ----- From: "Grandma Cindy" <popularplace@xxxxxxxxx>

Second thought--right after I hit Send and couldn't stop the process. Is it possible that the file name has to have the dashes for submissions but not for uploading validations? It's true that every file I've downloaded had them, but I never wondered why. I thought it was bookshare thing. And I rarely submit any more--just children's books sometimes. But I've had the spaces instead of the dashes in those, too. Cindy --- Ann Parsons <akp@xxxxxxxxxxxx> wrote:Hi all, Actually, Windows is the only platform that allows spaces in file names. Mac doesn't, Linux doesn't, and neither did old DOS. Therefore, keeping the dashes and/or underscores in file names makes sense. It's more consistant that way too. I don't know what kind of machine the repository runs on, but if it's Unix or Linux, then the file names will have to be changed unless the people setting them up want to put the names in quotation marks. It just makes more work for people. Once the file is open, then you can have titles with spaces, but seems to me that having dashes or underscores would be a better bet. Ann P. -- Ann K.
