As a parent of a teenager, I monitor my daughter's books fairly closely. She gets grounded for swearing, and her school gives detention for it. I will agree that a portion of teens swear, and I think it's deplorable that parents allow it. However, you can't assume that teens as a group swear because some you know do or because they do on TV. That's like saying that all blind people rock back and forth because some you know do. It's a generalization that doesn't apply well under closer scrutiny.
